Ever since Helen Keller inspired us to champion the cause in 1925, Lions have served and advocated for the blind and visually impaired. Lions Clubs around the world are "Knights of the Blind" and support sight programs and services including vision screenings, eye banks and eyeglass recycling.

You can help too! In just about any dresser drawer, one can find eyeglasses that are no longer being used. Don't throw them away!  Those eyeglasses can change another person's life. Please donate those eyeglasses to the Lions Recycle for Sight Program.

Look for the eyeglass collection box at the following locations:

  • Barrington Public Library: 1st floor, reading area

  • Shaws, Barrington: Near the exit door

  • Atria Bay Spring Village, Barrington: Mail Room

  • Barrington High School

  • Barrington Middle School

  • Hampden Meadows School

As of February 29, 2020, the Barrington Lions have collected 238 pair of eyeglasses!!

Early detection and correction of vision problems helps children prepare

for success in school.  Rhode Island law requires vision screening of students prior in Kindergarten, grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9, and new students.

Barrington Lions serve the Town of Barrington by providing eye screenings in local public and private schools.  Over 1200 Barrington students were screened in the Fall, 2019.
